Best lever action I have ever handled/owned/seen/touched... Henry H012GMAW

There are really anemic factory loads available in 45 Colt would be my guess. Even "hot" factory loadings for the 45 Colt are pretty anemic IMHO!

Not everybody shoots factory loads though....

There is high pressure loads available if you look. I wouldn't shoot an elk with a cowboy load, but I also wouldn't hunt geese with trap loads either, some common sense must be applied.

I meant as a reason for banning it for hunting in SK. I couldn't find any factory loads listed beyond the SAAMI 14,000 psi max but I didn't look really hard whereas it's really hard to find any 44 Mag loads anywhere near that anemic, 25,000psi and up. My Colt 45 handloads for my Ranch Hand run around 35,000psi and there are certainly no factory loads anywhere near that!

Look like buckhorn sights? Why do so many modern lever guns come with buckhorn sights from the factory?

Nice looking rifle!

I know eh. Just ordered the skinner sights for it... $105 US for the stainless plus $26 shipping. Damn expensive for a small piece of metal

Do people hunt deer with the 357Magnum?

Nice rifle, BTW.

I shot a 350lb bear last fall that was trying to pry open the door to my truck camper. (While I slept) although at close range, one shot of a 158gr XTP over 17gr H110 to the chest left quite a hole. I was going to be quite screwed once he got the door open, so I didn't mind shooting through the window.
One thing that I never planned on was a 9 MONTHS of tinnitus because firing a 16" barrelled Rossi M92 INSIDE a metal truck camper is LOUD.
So 357 is more than capable within its limits of roughly 100-150 yards of taking a deer if you use the right bulket and enough powder.

How does this one compare to the 1892 Alaskan Takedown. I'm trying to decide between the too. I like the idea of a takedown rifle, but I have no experience with Chiappa products.
