Best Long Range .308 ammo for 600m+

Personal advices on .308 ammo for Long range shooting i.e. over the 600m mark & even up to 1000m.

Handloaded is the only way to go. Most of the .308 match ammo you can buy in the store, is loaded with 168 gr bullets. 168's will work at 600m but not at 1000m.

168gr are old news, go for 175mk/178amax or 155lapua.

Anything else is wasted ammo.

Federal Gold Match 175gr ammo, or handloads. My rifle shoots equally well with both.

155 Laupa's 46 grains of Varget! Drop 3 points at 800 yards from a perfect score!

We shoot 308 F class up to 1000 yards. We use Lapua cases 155 gr Sierra palma bullets or 154 gr Lapua or 155 Bergers with 45 to 46 grains of Hodgon varget powder or Vitavuory 140. We use 30 inch barrels twist 1/13 or 1/14.

I have used the 168's with success at five hundred,never tried farther

Depends on your twist, if tight go heavy. Otherwise most are using the 155 Laupa's secnars.
