Just something to share with others in the know, but I wouldn't mind some viable feedback. Some years ago, I got my "once-in-a-lifetime" deal. Get this... BNIB Ruger M77 .308, 26" bull barrel, lovely walnut stock & never fired. We chatted back and forth, and I bought the glass he had for sale as well, Leupold vari-xIII 2.5x10x40mm, also new in box. Total cost to me? $750.00 cash! I kicked my ass later 'cause he had a Sako 25-06 BNIB for sale as well and probably would have taken 6 or 7 hundred for it. I didn't know enough about the calibre at that time. I've since taken a lot of deer with that rifle, and it'll place one shot on top of the other with the right load. I know that style of rifle is no longer made, so as an aside, does anyone know the value now?

nice rifle, and a even better group to go with it! I don't know what it would be worth. I paid about 800 bucks for my m77mkII but it sure don't shoot like that. and I paid about 550 or 600 bucks for my 4-12X40 vxII so I think you did alright haha
 
What calibre is yours? The group you see was shot with hand loads. We loaded 165 gr. Sierra btsp on top of 48 gr. of H380, and that was the result at 100 metres. Have you tried different commercial or hand loads in yours ? If I ever had any doubts about a gun, I'd put it into the hands of someone at the club who was a #### hot marksman, and then I'd know for sure if it was me or the gun.
 
Hey Stev. Do you know how many of my friends are after me to leave it to them in my will? I told them all to pound salt, I'm taking it with me (just kidding!). Not only is it the best shooter I've ever owned, but it's put lots of venison on the table. I don't even know what the older models like mine are worth now, but I'd love to see one at a gun show just to test the market.
 
mine is a 7mm rem mag it shoots about an inch or inch and quarter at 100. good enough for most people as a hunting rifle but I am pickey as hell so it will be getting a timney trigger and a action bedding / barrel free float
