Hi. I'm new to firearms and so far have had some amazing experience shooting trap at the Pitt Meadows Gun Club. Only issue there is it's a single discipline club and I'd like to also try some other rifle target shooting. I'm in the Tri-Cities and am interested to hear recommendations for any clubs with good target shooting facilities, but also with great members. The people at Pitt Meadows are amazing, welcoming and super helpful, so would love to find a target place like that as well. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

If you're in the Tri Cities then the Port Coquitlam & District Hunting & Fishing Club is an obvious choice, and closest. Next closest is Thompson Mountain in Pitt Meadows. There's also a little known jewel of a 20 yard indoor range at Semiahmoo Fish & Game, in South Surrey, with a rimfire night most Tuesdays. Cheap membership an you can even rent a rifle there.

Thank you! I will check them all out.

Hours at PCDHFC suck though - closing at 4pm in the summer is brutal IMO... And it's so busy on weekends. And they're probably gonna be shut down soon too - a developer bought the neighboring property a few years ago and they've been dealing with noise complaints for years. Last I heard the city was only renewing their lease 3 years at a time, with the final year being set aside for cleanup of the site if the city decides it's time to close. Frankly I'm pretty surprised it's still operating, judging by the way they were talking when I was a member 4 years back I pretty much expected them to be shuttered by now.

I was a member there for years pre-covid, moved out the valley in 2021 though. When I was in university and I could go to the range at 11am on a Tuesday because I had late or early classes that day it was awesome. Once I was working full time the hours they're open became a big issue for me.

Now I'm a member at Mission. If long range is your goal, Mission is the only 300yd range around, and open till sunset (or 9pm at the latest), and they have lights on the handgun range so that's open till 9 every night. Love it. Highly recommended.

Suther, great info, thanks. I hear Mission is a great club, just it's around 45 minutes each way for me getting there. I am going to check them out for sure though. Another one is Thomson Mountain Sportsmen Association (TMSA) in Pitt Meadows. Anyone have any experience there?

AlexisCreek, what's been your experience at TMSA?

I hear good things about TMSA, but never been myself. My understanding is the road up to the range isn't the best and becomes impassable if it's snowy or icy, leading to a few short closures each year. Otherwise the people I've talked to who went there all liked it.

They might only have 100yds as the longest though?

Mission, Abbotsford and Chilliwack are all excellent clubs who host multiple different events and have numerous sub clubs, so finding a discipline you want to shoot at any of these clubs is no problem. All have fantastic members and all are welll worth considering 👍
