I have a pretty accurate heavily sporterized Mossin that currently has an ATI scope mount that uses 2 bolts into the front of the receiver to hold it in place and is not supported at the rear. Front of receiver is round. I want to start shooting at longer ranges to see what potential it has.
While the ATI mount seems to work ok at 200 yard distances, I plan on mounting a much larger and heavier scope and I don't think the mount is up to the task. It is aluminum I believe and is quite flimsy and with moderate hand pressure I can force the mount to move slightly / flex at the unsupported rear.
Can anyone provide a recommendation for a much sturdier scope mount based on personal experience, as well as the name of a vendor for the mount?
Looking for a mount that attaches to front and the rear of the receiver. I don't mind drilling and tapping more holes in the receiver.
Many thanks in advance.
