Hi Im looking at getting a half decent scope roughly under $100 in 3x9. Any body have good places/online/stores to go to ? Also I dont want to buy one for each individual gun so Im wondering do people swap out scopes on one gun to another ? Yes I know this isnt in the optic section but I asked one in that section recently and no one replied. Figure Id have better luck here. Thanks

whats the point of having a scope if you plan on taking it off (loosing your zero), mounting it to a different gun, with a different rail, and re-zeroing it???? sounds like a wait of time and ammo to me....

...re mounting and re zeroing a scope to a different rifle is a mentality that makes more sense to 2500 dollar scope

to answer your question, generally people have a scope per rifle...just buy a cheapie, then upgrade it later on, then put the cheapie on another rifle...

I have better things to spend my money on and don't want to buy a different scope for each gun, so thats why I was asking the question whether stupid or not. Guns aren't the main focus in my life and I could care less when remounting/zeroing a gun.

It's the cost in ammo to re-zero the rifle that will save you the money in the long run.

I have a Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn 3x-9x 40mm on my slug gun that came in at about $110.00 from Lebarons. It's a pretty decent scope, too, certainly for the price it is very good.

Your are very fortunate to have scored such a deal.I always miss out on the deals.

It only takes one shot to zero a scope.

1. Clamp gun in vice aiming at target.
2. Fire a shot
3. Make sure gun is still aiming at the same spot (hasn't moved due to recoil. Re-aim if necessary.)
4. Adjust scope to point at the actual point of impact instead of the target you were aiming at.

Done.

I guess it depends on how far you are zeroing your scope to. I've zeroed a scope to 50 meters (a .22 and .223) and used a couple of rounds. I've also zeroed a scope to 150-200 meters (with a 303 and 7mm ammo, which isn't the cheapest ammo) and used about 8-10 rounds (depending on the windage, etc..). If I were swapping it back and forth and having to do it all over again, I would rather save money in the long run and just buy a second scope.

Laughing at myself here. It must take me 30 rounds to zero my scope on my 22. I find it incredibly frustrating. I need to get a vice ... er I mean a thing with a clamp. Already have some vices... <grin>
