Most people run delta points. Large field of view and clear glass.
Vortex Razor with 6MOA dot on my Shadow 2 for Production Optics. More money than the Viper or Venom, but it will hold up to the abuse the slide puts it through.

donno what your talking about. Have over 2500 rounds on my viper and dovetail mount. 12+ matches
zero zero holding problems.
Are you using the Henning mount?
Springer mount with a viper.
Used it at about 4-5 matches plus practice so far.
Zero issues, it has worked perfectly.
On an STI I had a C-More STS (lots of hard use), and on the a Canik I have a Bushnell micro reflex sight (not much use), my 2 cents;
-The Springer mount needed shims on my Shadow SP-01, it felt like it’s going to fail...but it hasn’t and I don’t think it will now but it’s still not as good as I want.
-The Viper takes an odd battery, 1632’s are a pain to find in my town...why couldn’t they just made it to use a 2032?
-The turn off is a PITA (same on the Bushnell); you have to hold the button for something like 5 seconds...The C-More has a really convenient on/off switch.
-The dot is too high, with the mount in my Shadow the sight is considerably higher than normal sights so I loose the dot regularly. Time and training would mitigate this but my STI had the sight melted into the slide and it was seamless. The Canik is better but still not as nice as a lower dot.
IF I were to do it again I would hold out for a factory milled CZ to get the dot low, or if using a mount I would try a Henning. As for the dot I would try and eliminate my two beefs with the Viper, not sure on what I would go with though but the C-More was on an open gun and took everything I threw at it (9x40 too).
What are you talking about? The viper takes a 2032... I bought a 10 pack for it and my Bushnell elite tactical.
He may have been confused with the Venom as it takes a 1632. My Viper has been fine on my Shadow but I just recently put a Deltapoint Pro on my new Q5 match and now even if I go back to the Shadow it will be wearing a DPP, really no comparison.
What size dot did you go with in the Deltapoint Pro? Thanks. I haven't been able to locate one here in Canada yet.
So far I have shot one match with a C-More RTS2 on a Glock 17 and one match with a Sig 1911 with a trijicon 7.0 MOA (RM04) I would personally need a lot of practice if I was going to get on target as fast as with open iron sight, might never happen.
I went with the 2.5 MOA, was really concerned but found on most forums it was by far more popular than the 7.5 with the Carry Optics crowd. Concerns over the 2.5 was unfounded as the 2.5 DPP is brighter and easier to find than the 6 MOA Viper. The bigger window over the Vortex Viper was a huge plus, the battery compartment and the controls were also a much nicer setup. I was actually going to use an RTS2 but my new Q5 match didn't come with a mount that worked so I opted for the DPP. If it is reliable I can't see me changing at this point.
I am considerably slower with the dot currently than I was with irons but I am going to stick with it as I wanted to commit to the Production Optics division. A big part of that is some life stuff getting in the way and not being able to put any serious amount of time on the gun or dry fire, I suspect that with a bit of work it would get better in a hurry.
