If you do not have technology nearby, you would zero exactly on at 100 (or whatever) and then shoot intervals to your max range and note the dope in your log book
If you have a computer available, it is easier to use a ballistics progam. Input the sight over bore distance, atmospheric conditions, zero distance, measured muzzle velocity, and bullet BC(s), and they can produce a drop table in inches, MOA, or mils. If all the parameters are accurate, the drop table should be "on" within about a click out to 1000 at least.
