I’m moving back to Canada from the US and want to get into reloading. I was thinking of buying a Dillon 550C and bringing it back with me but thought it might just be easier to get it when I’m back in Canada. Do you guys have any favorite places you like to buy from in Canada for your reloading supplies or should I just get it down here? Thanks for the advice. This is all new to me. I’m thinking mainly of reloading 9 mm or 38/357 for pistol and 308 for rifle.

It will likely be a lot cheaper if you get it in the states and bring it up, especially since it’s not ITAR controlled. Just leave it in the box. I try to buy Canadian when I can but it’s hard when you can literally save $200+ like I did with my Square Deal B.

I bought mine from Murray Gardner, out of Vancouver area somewhere. Not a sponsor here I don't think, so I probably shouldn't link his website, but he's big into IPSC and goes to lots of matches. Save on shipping if you can meet up with him like that.

I got a 550C a couple of months back . Tried to buy local to save on shipping but could not find one. By far the best price I found was at X-reload , shipping to AB was about $50.00 .I have not got through all the categories yet this morning (yeah I have no life). but there was a 550B on EE yesterday. , it seemed to be priced fairly.

Thanks for the information. It looks like the 550C is back ordered every where including from Dillon. I might just start with a 550BL and just build it up. Any one have any experience doing it that way? I’m completely new to reloading and figure that’s a good way to learn.

If you cant find a 550, might I suggest a 650. The 650 has an extra die hole in every tool head pared to the 550 and the auto advancing mechanism of the 650 is easily disabled ( takes about 30 seconds & can easily be revived when you are comfortable with the full progressive capabilities). A simple push on a case will advance the shell plate to the next detent, you don't need the "star" provided on the 550.

For a very little bit more cash the 650 is a much more versatile machine that can have the same learning curve that a 550 can have for a newbie.
