I would like to buy my first pistol, and as a lefty have decided to go with the S&W M&p 40. I also like the Glock 22 but like the ambi options of the MP40 better.

Could someone please point me in the right direction as to the best deal/place to buy one? One without the magazine disconnect. I checked out Armco but they have none.

Is it faster with less hassle to buy in your pistol in your home Province, or does it matter? thanks in advance.

I'm in ON and for some reason all the out of province transfers (except the first restrcted purchase ever) have been quicker than local....

Why not get a 9mm instead? better caliber to start with IMO; cheaper and less snap! Also keep in mind that model w/o the mag safety has a warrning on the side (ugly!)

As for prices check the sponsors' links above...

The Smith and Wesson M&P is a great choice for a first pistol. I own one in .40S&W and I love it. If you've not shot a .40 before, though, you should be aware that it is much "snappier" than the 9mm, especially in a lightweight plastic pistol.

Personally I got the one with the magazine disconnect, even though I hate that feature, because it is easier to remove that feature than cover the ugly warning on the slide.

Amongst CGN sponsors, Frontier Taxidermy has a good price, a good reputation, and according to their website, is currently offering a free holster with each gun, while supplies last. I paid way more than the current going price for my M&P, and I'm still totally happy with it.

If you're in Vancouver, go to Reliable gun. I was in there today and they had new and used M&P .40's. I bought my M&P from them. Great guys. Talk to Colin or Randy.

I live in Quebec and purchased mine form Elwood Epps over the internet. Had the pistol in my hands 7 days later and Epps had the best pricing I could find ($599).

I Live in Quebec and bought my M&P 9mm at dante about 6 months ago and have shoot about 2000 rounds with out 1 jam. Great gun, and for the first person that says’s why didn’t you buy .40 well I am cheap and 9mm brass is falling of the shelves
