I recently came to own a Norinco 1911 GI model, but want to swap out some of the parts for more target shooting oriented parts. Does anyone know of a place in Canada that carries like the entire Wilson Combat line or another custom part manufacturer? Or should I purchase parts from Brownells?

I have always found small parts are easiest to source from Brownells. It's one stop shop and NZA keeps a list of curent manufacturers with export licenses up to date in the Brownell's Importing Tutorial.
Some Canadian store's may carry parts but stock is usually hit or miss and it can take alot of time calling and emailing around to find parts. Getting repsonses from some Canadian retailers can also be like pulling teeth in my experience. In addition, prices are usually inflated up here.

Brownells is the go to choice for one stop shopping. In Canada it's a bit of a tougher choice. Dlask makes some of his own parts and stocks other major's. If you're not in a rush you can pick and choose on EE for the best deals.

learning to work on a 1911 is a hobby, All the ladies buying crafts from a craft store spend more than if they bought the products at retail, I started out with a real boat anchor of a 1911 and ended up with a fairly decent .45, I wont buy another Norinco as the cost to upgrade the sights is prohibitive, it shoots well with every part upgraded except the extractor,main spring housing, thumb safety, sights and disconnect. The knowledge gained made the 250.00 in parts in a 274.00 Norc worthwhile.

Considering I got the Norc for 180, I would expect that the parts would be worth more
I plan on investing in it, not only to improve my knowledge of 1911s as well as smoothing them but also, to improve some of the shooting ergonomics to make it more comfortable for myself.So while on the topic of parts, what about magazines? Where's some places to pickup some decent 8 rounders? Not necessarily lookin' for Wilson Combat mags, but would like some 8 rounders with bumpers (not act mags though).
I've bought lots of mags, from Brownells, S&W M&P, Colt 1911, Wilson Combat 1911 with no problems. Just make sure that they are legal to use in Canada and you shouldn't have a problem. eg: no 12rd .22 LR or 30 rd P Mags
