I am a newbie and just acquired a Poly Tech M305 (M14). I figure I might need lots of ammo for practice.

I live in the Greater Toronto area. Does anybody know where to get good price for the ammo. 500 or 1000 rds?

Thanks.

Yep klunk, a few places had that SA .308 surplus for about $600/1200 rounds at the beginning of this year, but I imagine recent $800+ prices are purely for the gouge.

>>Just a few years ago $300 per 1000 (.30c per shot) was the norm

Too bad I only got the M305 now. I guess I will spend more time with my CZ 858 then.

There's little or no surplus 7.62 NATO ammo around. Your local gun shop can order anything you want in any quantity you want. Be prepared to pay up front. Or get into reloading.

I recently sold 600 rounds to a fellow for .65 cents a piece plus pickup discount. So keep your eyes peeled when these things come up on EE. Don't dabble either, buy it before it is gone. My auction was SPF within 4 minutes, that was probably more to do with my slow checking of my inbox.

walmart still hasn't adjusted its prices in most areas... $23/box for .303 british, $14.50/box for 30-30, $17/box for .308

Dauphin, MB Walmart today - Winchester Silvertip = $ 29.86 / 20, up about $ 12.00 from early this summer. And all the rest of their "new" stock showing the same price increase. Glad I stocked up then. Kayceel

I reload premium rounds for about a dollar, every component (including brass) is new. If I cheap out alot, and re-use old brass, I can bring it down to about 50 cents a round.
