So what make of brass is the "BEST" quality for reloading. Winchester? R-P? Imperial? etc...

My preferences are Lapua, Nosler, Hornady, Winchester, remington, Federal in that order.

I like Remington my self, Ive tried a few others, winchester and some randoms. I found the Remington brass does not expand at the band to much or as much. I would however like to get my hands on some Lapua, Nosler and Hornady.

I'm fairly certain it's safe to say that company's who specialize in producing top quality match brass are obviously the best. I'm no expert by any means but I'm pretty sure the old saying "you get what you pay for", is no less true in the reloading world than it is in the car industry. I love my Chevy, Ford or Dodge as much as the next guy but I doubt any of them are built quite the same as the Mclaren, Ferrari or Lamborghini, so I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say that Lapua, Norma, Nosler, etc is better brass than Win, Rem, Fed, etc.

Lapua is usually top quality brass, Nosler is also very good, but tends to be a bit thicker, reducing case capacity and requiring load reductions. Domestically, I like Winchester the best, with Remington down the line a bit, and Federal way down the line....too soft IMHO. Norma makes good quality brass, but it too, tends to be on the "soft" side. Regards, Eagleye.

Most of the top companies mentioned above don't make brass in any cals. I'd be interested in, so I'm going with Starline, Remington, Winchester.

Lapua or Norma.

Unless you are loading for an AR then any junk will do.

Depends on the caliber I suppose.

I've never seen Lapua in 250 Savage, 303 Savage, 257 Weatherby, or 416 Remington.

Sometimes you're stuck with whoever actually makes the brass.

For pedestrian cartridges I prefer W-W, then R-P.

"Best" for what? match rifle? Hunting? A service rifle?

Winchester is popular with me because the brass is thin and I can get more powder in it.

Lapua is very uniform in weight and dimensions.

In a M14 I prefer military brass becasue of the thicker web.

For hunting, any brass will work. I just sort it by make and weight.

According to claims I've read on other sites etc. (not personal experience), 10x reloads without annealing etc is the standard expected with Lapua brass.

For pistol I reload 45ACP using Federal, Winchester and MFS. I honestly can't see a difference in any of it and I do separate according to brand.
