Hey guys,

I'm dropping my T3X in .308 into a KRG Bravo, as well as getting new glass for it. But I'm not sure about which rail to put it on. Has anyone had experience with Area 419? I'm considering them from GoBigTactical, but I'm open to any other suggestions. Thanks!

The Area419 is the nicest of the ones I've owned/seen. Mountain Tac makes a decent one also. Both use recoil pins.

Now, keep in mind with the recoil pin/lug, the optiloc slot in the top of a Tikka is not a 'toleranced feature' (it's meant to be used with the integral rail and optiloc rings) so if the rail uses flat head screws, it's possible that the pin/lug will not be bearing against the edge of the slot. At that point the pin is more of a backup if your screws come loose.......but if that happens you're going to have problems anyways.

The sphur rails come with dowel pins so you can drill and ream the rail to your action on assembly (you might need a smith or machinist to install). Tikka factory rails are pinned at the factory like this and ultimately it's a better method because the two pins will stop movement forward/backwards and side/side.

Having said all that.......unless maybe you have a really heavy scope, shooting a really heavy caliber, your rail is not going to move if you only have the 4 mounting screws and they are torqued/loctite'd correctly.

I prefer steel/stainless rails over aluminum, but lots of people use aluminum rails and they work just fine.
