Hey guys,

Took out my new bolt action rifle to the range yesterday to see how she handles with each ammo.

I was surprised that the bulk pack AE 40 grain rounds rocked my world.
Second was the Winchester wildcats from canadian tire.
Third was the Winchester Super X hollow points.
4th was my CCI blazer
5th was the CCI CB shorts.......Damn they are quiet.

I want to try remington bulk pack but hear far too many horror stories.
What is every ones take on their favorite bulk pack or semi economical round?

I noticed after the barrel got really dirty ( 300 rnds ) all ammo tightened up and performed better.......all rounds were fired at 50 yards.
When I upped it to 75 yards, the Winchester super X HP really showed me what the deal was. But the best in both worlds was the AE 40 grn.
Very impressed.

Any one have a go at the bulk pack Federal stuff?

Thanks all.

Ive found Winchester 333 stuff from Wal-Mart amazing in my custom 10-22. At 75 yards I get ragged holes. I can't get that with any other ammo. Federal Bulk orks ok but stove pipes alot.

Cheers!!

I'm not even sutre that is still in the realm of "fouling shots"....in theory....;)

I'm not surprised that the barrel got filthy after the Wildcats...and I've shot enough AE 40-grain indoors to have started to gag on the lead....

The 525-packs are much cleaner-shooting......:)

I've had noticeably fewer failures with Win 333s than I had with the Federal 525 packs.

Back to your original question- I've never tried the Blazers but have found that the Wildcats aren't as dirty as Remington rimfire rounds.

winchester dynapoints first, then federal bulk, we don't get ae locally, nor the aquila - bring up the rear, winchester wildcats- all out of a nylon 66, 10/22, and a beretta

My previous 10/22 would shoot Remington target loads for 1000 rounds with no malfunctions, but with Wildcats,it would be failing to feed within 100 rounds.

My Ruger 22/45 loves the Federal 525 bulk pack ammo. 100% functioning and tiny groups. A couple of my rifles like Dynapoint GT's out of the brands tried so far.

I just bought a pile of different brands to try out, but it has been brutally windy here the last couple of times I could get out to the range and I have not done any testing with it all yet.

Federal has always been good in a variety of 22s I've owned. Remington is filthy ammo and I'll never buy any more.

Personally, in my Winchester Model 150 Lever Action, it HATES everything but, in this order:
- CCI Blazers
- CCI Stingers
- Winchester Super X

I have tried about 7-8 other brands and types of ammo with horrific results, the WORST with Federal Champion .22 LR. It shot all over the paper. Tomorrow, if people ask, I can post my range report of a 50 meter shoot with various ammos. I just found a box at my local Canadian Tire of 40 round of American Eagle. Is this stuff any good? I have yet to try it. For now, my gun loves CCI exclusive to anything out and is scope sighted in for it.

a few thousand gophers don't like AE, so I guess they are good for me,, my Sakos shoot anything good, I just ended up with a favorite though, or what I can get my hands on cheap.:)

Favorite .22 ammo

My son's CZ American likes the Remmy Subsonic (1/2 at 50). I have a Norinco EM-332 that likes the Win Hi Vel (3/8 at 50). Haven't gotten around to trying match or target ammo in either.

Can anyone recommend match ammo?

A quick question, what is a good .22 caliber range for ground hogs, gophers, and rabbits respectively? Also, what fps velocity and bullet grainage would you be looking for?

The blazer shoots best in my mark II, but I use the federal 525 for gophers(HP). Once my current inventory of blazer is out I'm just going to switch to the federal for everything, accuracy is only a little worse, and it's 7-8 bucks cheaper per brick if i recall correctly.

Great prices.

Federal 525 is $30 a brick at CT in Vancouver and Blazer 50 boxes are $2.99.

$30 for 525??!?!??!?!??! It's $19.99 here at wholesale.

No pricing like that here. :(

Too bad the Wholesale stores in Kamloops and Nanaimo haven't forced other retailers to price accordingly.

Closest pricing available is Winchester Dynapoint GT at $22 for 500 at CT.
