Looking to purchase a Red Dot for use on my SKS interchangeably with an AR-15. I do need some magnification and want to do a one and done (not wanting to buy too cheaply made an item only to have replace it quickly).

Recommendations appreciated.

TIA,

Wolf

Won't that be a PITA having to re-zero the optic every time you switch them?
Having said that, a nice 3x option would be the Burris AR-332

I tend to shoot one rifle for several weeks before switching to the other. If I like shooting with a red dot sight I will probably purchase a 2nd one to save the hassle of moving the optic.

if you purchase one with no magnification you should be able to use it with your regular glasses

dot might be blurry but you look past that

the smaller the dot the more accurate it should be

5 mill dot = 5 inch target at 100 plus your aim error

Sounds like you want a glass etched illuminated reticle scope.
What kind of mount do you have on the SKS?
What's your budget?

I have a vortex 3x with etched recital, think it's called the strike force or something like that. A little spend at almost 400$ bit seems a decent piece, even without the illumination on the recticle is very visible. Comes with a high and low mount though even with the low mount in a wartak sks mount it sits a little high and you might want a cheek riser. Eye relief is less than stellar at about 3".

I have the Burris AR 536 and quite like it for bench shooting. Other option could be a Leupold VXR 1.25-4 if you have the rail space. I have one on an AR and really like it a lot.
