Best Restricted 9mm Glock Mag Carbine?

I have a Thureon Defense 9mm Carbine, which is awesome. I recently bought a Ruger PC Carbine because it is smaller, lighter and easier to pack (and awesome too). Although not traditional looking by any means, far less scary than the TD, which is a benefit at times.

Now I want a more compact restricted 9mm Carbine as well. I don't really care what brand per se, but must be Glock 9mm mags, fairly compact and be fully tactical looking. I love the Skorpion but no Glock mags takes it out of contention for me. I have always like the Kriss Vector, but the Angstadt Arms UP9 and Freedom Ordnance FX9 are much better looking, and a less complicated design.

Are there others in AR or SMG design that I am missing? Is the FX9 pistol available in Canada? Which would you guys suggest?

My Freedom Ordinance FX-9 - 8" barrel (seriously, who wants an 18.6" PCC? lol).

Added a few "accent" bits; Sightmark reflex sight. Won PCC division in my first IDPA match with it a few weeks ago - of course, I was the only one registered in PCC division...!

We will soon see the B&T GHM9 Glock version.
I have been waiting along time and should be arriving next week. Fingers crossed.
Also I believe the Kriss vector takes Glock mags.

Kriss Vector is a good quality PCC. I've owned a couple of the gen 1 non restricted in 45auto and now have a non restricted gen 2 in 9mm.
Well built, reliable, and accurate, if you like the looks of it you can't go wrong.

I will say though that of all the PCC's I've owned the HK USC is probably the best quality tool we have access to other than say maybe the new SIG MPX which looks good and has been getting great reviews (I've only handled one in the store and never fired one so can't really give much info). The problem with the MPX is the magazines are expensive and limited to 5 rounds.

Restricted with Glock mags I would go with either the Vector or just buy a 9mm AR-15 with a Glock mag lower. My 9mm AR is my favorite PCC other than the restricted status (I can shoot on my own land and almost never go to a range anymore so restricted stuff doesn't get used much).

PWS PCC

I have had the Angstadt Arms UDP-9 and it just felt like a basic mil-spec AR15 that you would pay $700-$800 for. The PWS was smooth as silk and ready to go out of the box, I got mine of Al Flaherty's.

With the PWS at $1350 you get a ton of features:- Slightly upgraded trigger, Radian Charging handle, Full BCM furniture, and PWS muzzle brake.

After that I would suggest trying a restricted Fx-9- Nothing but great reviews and the price is right.

So I focused my list a little, no Pinocchio barrel, I want proper AR 15 furniture, horizontal space for support hand and tac-light, being 9mm IMO blow-back is more than adequate for recoil management and fewer parts to service so no gas system or Vector. That brings me to the FX9, PWS, or UP9 and all 3 have things I like. I think I have decided, but seeing as 14 hours ago I wasn't even considering a new gun, I want to give it a few days before I pull the trigger ;)

EDIT - down to those 3, unless some smarty pants adds the PX9 to the list after my post. That does look good indeed, but approaching the size of my TD carbine.

UP9 is a great option.

I have a QC10 lower mated to a RRA 7" upper with a modified BCG to work with the Glock mags. Never had a single malfunction with this setup. I understand that this isn't something you going to find on the shelf. But it's a pretty close comparison to the UP9

So that's my FX-9 in your original post.

A couple of things I considered before buying: decide if 'last round bolt hold open' is important to you - many of the more budget AR style 9mm PCC do not have LRBHO (the Palmetto State Armory model that IRUNGUNS sells, for instance). For me it was a must-have for competition - I want to feel that bolt lock back to tell me it's time. Also, there are magwell adaptors for full sized AR lowers available on the market, but I wanted the mag release and all the other function to be in the same place as my full sized AR (don't want to mess with years of muscle memory). The AR style PCC was the only consideration, again, to not mess with my AR muscle memory (work and play).

It's a play gun for me - so the still long-awaited 18.6" non-restricted version of the FX-9 was not for me - I wanted something small and fun. I only ever shoot at the range anyway, so restricted vs. non-restricted was not a deal breaker.

My FX-9 is from IRUNGUNS and all in (with exchange rate and shipping and taxes) it was at my door for pretty close to $1000 - as of last month they had it in stock in Canada so no wait time for import (I understand the NR version price keeps going up and they aren't even in the country yet...lol). It has all the features I want and didn't break the bank. Keep in mind it comes with the US fugly "brace" as it is configured as a pistol by US standards - so that means a new buffer tube and stock.

One more thing - I've been teaching my wife to shoot, and she has a full sized 5.56 AR which she's still quite intimidated by - she shot my FX-9 PCC and loved it so much she bought one of her own. We now have a matching set in the gun safe and she really enjoys this one and is more inclined to learn and shoot it more often. And the ammo is cheaper...!

I'd check out Black Leaf Industries, they are a Canadian Company and from what I hear ramping up production. Their's hold open on the last round, and they are registered on the FRT as a Handgun so no issues with 10 round mags.

This is a friends that he is picking up soon from them

And this is just one of their other pictures of I think their shop gun, which I have shot and it is SUPER fun, and another build. The Grey PCC is also a side charge.

If you really want to spend.

The CSV-9 is a Czech made subgun type that uses Glock 9mm magazines. Never been imported to Canada yet so would need an FRT.

The CSV-9

lqRqOoX.jpg

The CSV-9 looks to be a 9mm blowback operated sub type firearm; its very compact and uses 9mm Glock magazines. The barrel length can come in many different configurations but 120 mm seems to be the most common.

It doesn't look like it would be prohibited as its very unique and doesn't seem to a variant of any prohibited firearm. It would be a restricted firearm by barrel length and would probably be a restricted rifle because of its stock but would use Glock handgun magazines so I'm guessing it would have a 10 round capacity.

Also I believe the Kriss vector takes Glock mags.

If you dont mind telling me/us who is selling them in Canada? I really like the B&T but the 5 round mags have me holding off on buying one, but a Glock mag version Id be all over that! I already have a QC10 glock mag PCC, so Im really a fan of 10round mags vs 5

Id assume its Wolverine but I have not seen anything about it from them

We are on the same page. A play gun for the range, small is good.

Last round hold open is very important to me. That and the Pinocchio barrel are my only complaints with my Thureon Defense Carbine. Thanks for the heads up on the iRUNguns PSA PSX which doesn't have it.

I like the barrel length, hand guard, muzzle device set up on the FX9 the most, but the way they cut the low/rear of the lower, doesn't look like beaver tail grips will work on very well.

I'm pretty sure I have settled on the PSA PCC from Al Flaherty's, although it is about 50% more than the FX9. It does have Raptor charging handle already installed, and improved trigger.

I will likely switch to a Magpul ACS stock regardless of what I get. I have one on my AR and TD carbine, and really like it.

I've been running a Magpul MIAD grip on my AR but switched to a MOE K2 on the TD a few years ago, and like it too. I've heard good things about the BCM Gunfighter stuff, so I will give them a test run before making any decisions.

Also agreed on the insta-smile of virtually anyone who has shot my TD. PCCs are great fun guns for all. No "only a 22" stigma, a good punch but not too much recoil.

If your not in a huge rush you should check out the raven by Lockhart tactical. They are still waiting for a ftr but supposedly a person could see one towards Christmas. Has some pretty cool features but all the details aren’t out yet. Plus they are built in b.c.

That certainly looks like a nice gun, and I do like Canadian made, but not available not sure when they will be available. Also too big, I very much want restricted size for now.
