Best Scope Under $300 All-In?

I'm looking for a budget scope for hunting and some target shooting. Ideally I'd like to keep the price under $250 but I can stretch that out a bit if it's worthwhile to do so.

My wife is doing the buying so scouring the EE isn't really an option.

I'd like something with BDC, mil-hash or mildot, extreme magnification not required. Just decent glass and reliability for the price.

Between some upcoming sales and what not here are some of the scopes that have caught my eye:

Nikon Prostaff 5 2.5-10x40 BDC. Approx $280 after sale and rebate.

Nikon Varmint/Predator Active Target Special, BDC 4-12x40. Approx $240 on sale.

Nikon Varmint/PredatorActive Target Special, BDC 4-12x40. Approx $285 on sale.

Sightron SIH 3-9x40. $220-$265 depending on exact model and reticle.

Any thoughts or advice?

The Nikon Prostaff is a great choice based on your requirements. I'd go with that one.

You can still get a leupold vx1 for about $280 on sale.

I got a vortex viper 1" tube model for under $300 this summer, regular price was $420. I was going to get a diamondback or a leup vx1, but I'm a sucker for deals...

How much under $300? They are on sale right now at Cabela's for $299.

One of my specs is for for the scope to have BDC, mildot, or something like it.

I went to Cabela's last night to have a look through some of the stuff they had in my price range.

Checked out the Burris Fullfield, Vortex Viper and a few others.

I wound up buying the Nikon Prostaff 5. Nixon's BDC was much easier for my eye to pick up than the Vortex and Burris so I ended up taking it home with me.

$299.99 plus tax and there's a $35 mail in rebate on top of that.
