On my 4 Kimbers I have a 4.5-14 LR on a 22/250 Varmint, 3.5-10 on a .338 Win mag Classic, and 4.5-14s on a 7mm Rem and .270 WSM on a Select Grade and Montana. The 4.5-14 on the 7mm has a CDS dial, the rest are B&C reticles.
On your 25-06 I'd go 4.5-14 and consider the CDS. For me the 4.5-14 power is well worth the extra .4 ounce in weight, and the dual purpose nature of 25-06 would mesh with a CDS and a bit of extra magnification.
Im pretty sure I want to go with a 4.5-14. Is there much difference between a 40mm and 50mm objective? And if there is, should I be going to a VX-3L model or is the height difference worth the money?

I've got 4.5-14 x 50s too, and one VXL. I won't consider putting anything like that on a Kimber just because of bulk, but they do have their uses. If you have a non Kimber application for a 50 or 56 objective though I'd definitely look into the vxl. The low mounting is worth it.
The CDS is a lot of fun at the range for the zero to seven hundred yard stuff. I've got a few on hunting rifles that have been used a fair bit, but as luck would have it haven't used the CDS function much while hunting. That's just the way it turned out when packing those particular rifles. I did shoot a few quarter mile deer with a .300 so equipped, and a couple dozen animals with a 30-06 at around the 300 mark. That's hardly barrel stretching range, but I did get to take a few clicks on the dial. One thing to be aware of is that the CDS dial turns very easily, and will get spun by accident. Its got a zero stop, so that isn't a big deal is you are aware of it and check before shooting.
I've got the same scope as you bought on a Kimber Select grade in 7mm Rem.
