Hey CGN'ers;

Which handgun would you recommend for the guy with big mits?

Criteria:
Reliablity
Accuracy
aftermarket parts
Cost/value
Not a 1911 frame

With somewhat large hands, I quite like the fit of the NP22/Sig 226. I think the Beretta 92 is a good option for large hands as well.

Apart from that, a few guns now come with adjustable backstraps, which increases your options a fair amount. I'm partial to the M&P. But basically, just go to your local gun shop and handle everything.

I have pretty big hands also and have a 92FS inox that I put some walnut grips on and it fits really nice. Looks nice too with the walnut and stainless. Not expensive, has been very reliable, lots of parts available.

I know you said no 1911 frames but the 2011 double stack versions are tailor made for folks with larger hands.

Other than that some of the Glocks feel like holding onto a fat 2x4 and I agree with the Beretta 92fs being another which is big hand friendly.

For Sasquatch like paws there's always the .50AE Desert Eagle.... :D

What about revolvers? It may require a custom wood working solution but the grip shape and design is wide open on such guns. Come to think of it with wrap around grips such as Hogue finger grip styles almost any pistol you want can be set up for a large hand provided the trigger guard is open enough to allow for good accessibility. For an extreme solution you may simply need to consider custom wood or other materials made to fit your hand.

cz97, parts easy to come by

HK Mark 23, hard to get and hard to get parts
HK45 easier to find, can put in the right backstrap to really fit your hand, parts a little harder to get.

That cz97 is pretty hard to beat for what you are looking for.

Not many around so not a lot of guys have had experience with them. Its an awesome pistol.

Any Sig will work as well. The P220 is a very very nice choice, easy to get parts. grip is a little deep but a litte skinny, you can always put a hogue slip on that will make it feel better.

I do not have large hands. For that reason, the Beretta, S&W double action autos come to mind as being more suited for larger hands. My issue is primarily trigger reach, not grip circumference.

Beretta is pretty damn big. I have size L hands and the 92 is meant for larger hands than mine.

CZ TS is another handgun with a big handle.
