best sig 226

I personnally have a P226 Elite Stainless with Hogue Extreme aluminium grips. I have still have to pass Black Badge and I wish that my set up would qualify in production. Any idea if replacing grips kicks you out of production ? DOn't want to hight-jack your thread but this could be related.

Best Sig P226

Thanks Moe for starting this post. Like Moe said, same platform. I'm using a Bladetech Holdster. Would the Elite not work in this holdster if you do the tension adjustments? Are they that much wider? And, does anyone know if there's more P226 models that are wider?

Ive got several 226s, Elite, ST, Alloy....they are all the same width. Tough to say witch one is best, I think I prefer the ST the best. I really do like the short rest of the ELITE though.

ummm...maybe older ones are the same width but new Elites are 2.54 mm wider.
Hence Pottsy having a problem and damaging the finish on his when holstering it in his Serpa.

I have the regular Sig 226R. Its nice and all but has your friend shot it? I have been caught by the trigger reset a few times...its much sharper and longer than say the USP. This alone is a problem at least for me. Otherwise its a great gun.

The XFive was on top of my list. You can refer to me as Moe's friend as he was acutally asking the Q for me. I now have a reg P226 older model and love it. Just started in IPSC and looking at getting a new P226 and use my old one as a spare. Getting another 226 makes sense to me where I can use same holtster and mags. Now a days, there's so many different 226's that it's confusing specially when you have to buy a gun over the phone or net, you need to get all info possible to make the right choice. We don't have Sig dealers in Moncton NB.

I only make the comment about the trigger as Im use to using my USP in IPSC, I think if you start with the 226 and practice with it and only shoot that youll get use to it.

I really love the P226 with DAK trigger, easy trigger to manage, short reset. I dont think that you need to spend the kind of money that the X-Five is asking to shoot prod. Better keep the money for the ammo and training.

I bought one of my SIG's from the "Gun Dealer" in Macadam, NB.

I just measured both an elite and an st... each about 2 1/2 yrs old. Same dimensions on both as well as my other 226s. Could have been a different grip width but Ive got wrap arounds on all of them now.

I just bought a 226 Elite and really like it. The SRT trigger is great and it took now time to get use to it. Get any 226 that fancies you, you can't go wrong with a Sig.

If the Sig X-Five All-Around had the SRT (Short Reset Trigger) it would be the ultimate Sig for production.

I'm currently shooting a plane jane 226, but if I had the $$ to upgrade it wold be for an X-Five. The extra sight radius will make a difference for longer shots. Plus it's got a bit more weight which is nice.

There's some new models coming out that aren't on the production list, but the USPSA ones would seem to be tailor made for action shooting.

Only thing is I'm not sure the XFive can be used in IPSC production? Is the Xfive not SA only?

Some can and Some are...

Thanks for the great info. It's great to have someone pick-up after my lazyness to check this out myself. I'm getting pumped about this purchase and looking forward to shoot my new sig. Just feeling the field and looking for opinions, pros and cons on the P226 as the cost is going to hurt me so the last thing I need is pick the wrong 226.

Keep the reviews coming as I'm getting closer to my purchase.

Thank you all for those participating in Moe's post.

The elite,.the X-Five all around, the Blackwater and the X-five SO (SA/DA) would be my picks...
