Best small day pack?

Day hunting in the flatlands here, as I do, I can pack enough in the very ample pockets of my outerwear to spend an unexpected night out. I always have a game pocket in the specialised coat I'm wearing, either a Filson or a Barbour or in real cold, in my legally required orange vest- a game pocket can for instance hold a good sized emergency 'space' blanket. In or under those, I have any number of pockets to stash stuff in and it's stuff that stays there so as to avoid forgetting something. If it came to mountain or overnight travel, I'd use whatever pack was my current favourite, I have a bunch of them but they're all too old to mean anything in a recommendation because they're no longer being sold. I did have a 20-30 year love affair with the Gregory company though, and Jan Sport before that.

Eberlestock gunrunner packs are the best I have ever used. Having both hands free while hunting is a game changer. They will accommodate almost any hunting rifle with a scope, easy in easy out without removing the pack. The pack has room for all the essentials plus bino/ranger finder pouch and handy water bottle pockets lower left and right. They are pricey,... but u get what u pay for.

I have a Mystery Ranch Gallagator, olive green. Love it, perfect for multiple vacations, camping and hunting. The light green with blue zippers doesn't look tactical and it is easy to reach everything. Has a spot for a hydration pack or thermos and nice pockets on the side to jam stuff in. Also has a nice little pocket on top for keys and whatnot
