Hi Everyone,

Looking for the best affordable soft case for my AR15. This would be used from my house to the range and back so it needs to be lockable!

Thanks T

Was looking for an affordable one as well. But after comparing some soft cases went with a 5.11 double rifle bag. Had cheaper ones zipper or stitching ripoff. Go compare but it's worth paying a bit more for a something nicer that will last and protect your investment better.

Midway bags are reasonable priced as well.

I have a few Voodoo Tactical bags.
The 52" Ultimate Drag Bag Rifle Case and both 36" and 46" Dual Rifle Case.
The 36" fits both my 14.5" and 18" rifles with collapsable buttstocks and the 46" holds 2 M14's.

For transport of restricted firearms, it's worth spending a bit more.

I bought a really cheap bag a few years ago. Second time I zipped it closed the zipper separated from the material all the way up the side. Now just imagine if that had happened while my gun was in there, or while walking through the doorway at the range where everyone and their camera could see.

5.11 makes a good one.

Quality-wise yes, but can you lock the zippers to be compliant with the transport regs? This is the kicker for all these nice soft cases, most of them seem not to be lockable so what good are they for us here?
I was at my local tactical shop that is a 5.11 dealer and their cases were not lockable. The Condor brand case had lockable zipper pulls though.

Mine has lock loops on it and it's a 5.11.

Good to hear that some of their bags lock. I was looking at the smaller range bags they had on display and none of them would be legal. I'll keep searching.

The range bags don't lock but their padded rifle bag does have a lockable YKK zipper on the rifle compartment only, the front pocket on the rifle bag does not lock.

Both my rifle bag and pistol case have locking capability. They're nice bags too. Made really well. Big sturdy zippers and stitching. Not cheap tho.

If you want high quality and don't mind spending some money, look at the Shooters Gear stuff. h
ttp://shootersgear.net/

Their website may be a bit rough, but everything they make is bullet proof and super high quality. It is also canadian made stuff, out of barrie, ontario.

Their bags and cases all have double zippers so they are lockable as well.

I have a SERT bag from Rampart (a site sponsor) it's not cheap but it's my favorite. I also have a Voodoo 36" and it does a good job too
