Best synthetic .22LR rifle?

What is a relatively accurate, attractive, and mid priced black synthetic (not keen on wood) bolt action .22LR rifle? I was looking at the Ruger 77/22 All Weather, but I heard it wasn’t very accurate (it isn’t too much of a concern as it would mainly be used just for informal 50 metre target shooting). Also, it has a screw on the handgrip and a couple on the forgrip, does this dig into your hands at all? I was also looking at the Sako Quad Synthetic, but it’s quite expensive. I also don’t like the rainbow coloured scope, but I suppose you can get a different one. What do you guys recommend?

T/C R-55. Not a bolt....but would be perfect for informal shooting....VERY high quality, outstandingly accurate (right out of the box) and lots o' fun :D

How about a Savage Mark IIF?

I have the wood version and I'm pretty happy with it. Very inexpensive for the performance, and the adjustable Accutrigger is awesome. Aesthetics is subjective...I personally like it.
 
Hayden, if you can get one I would take a look at the CZ 452 style. It has a synthetic stock, and nickle plated barrel at a reasobable price. They are very accurate for the price and I have found mine to be perfect for hunting. The stocks are also built better then the savage's with the synthetic stock.

CZ's have a preatty good trigger from the factory, as do the savages with the accutrigger, but with the CZ you can order a trigger kit from Eric Brooks (search for his name on google with CZ 452 and you will find what I am talking about ;))

there's only one- the remington nylon 66- but they don't make it anymore- now if there was a stainless barrel....out of todays rifles, the 10/22 still is the top in whatever config imho
 
As cz452shooter stated; "if you can get one I would take a look at the CZ 452 style." I also have one and love it. It's exceptionally accurate for the price and a beautiful gun to handle.
 
x2 for the Savage.

x2 for the CZ if you have the budget. I don't know about guns but a lot of "toys" in Australia are very expensive compared to Canada.
 
Like the guys said above ^ Deffinately have a look at the CZ Style Here An Eric Brookestrigger kit is an absolute must though, easy to fit too. You can set the trigger to the pull you want mine now breaks like a piece of glass snapping!
 
Thanks guys. Is Ruger than only company that produces 10 round magazines that sit flush in the magazine well? Also, would anyone be able to answer my question about the screws digging into you hand on the 77/22? Here is a picture for reference:

I don't think Firearms are more expensive in Australia. For example, our dollar is very similar to Canada; a Ruger 77/22, is about AUD$850. That's not much more than you guys get it for is it? It's a shame self loaders are illegal here though, I fired a 10/22 in Canada a few months ago and it was a great gun, very light.

To the best of my knowledge, YES. Unless you also include tube-fed bolt guns and lever actions, some of which hold 15 or 22 rounds.

On the forend? I never had an issue with this. But I'm medium build and tend to hold the rifle target style, on two fingers under the mag. I regret selling my M77.

The new one with the laminate stock, target grey finish and "improved" trigger is pretty ###y looking.
 
I've got to be honest with you guys, the only rifle I've really liked so far is the Ruger 77/22. I like the overall design and look, and the flush fitting 10 round magazine makes it nice and neat (plus I don’t have to reload as often). I'd like to hold it first to see what it feels like in the hand though. I went shooting today and tried out a CZ, but I didn't particularly like the shape of the stock; I thought it was angled down too far. What's the accuracy of the 77/22 like?

Off the bench, mine grouped well with T-22, but the trigger was heavy. This was an older one, early-mid 90's vintage (as I recall); it was second hand. And I wasn't much of rifle shooter back then.

Had a chance to shoot an newer model just the other day. No guage at the range, but I would estimate 3.5-4lbs.

You could get a Cz452 with a huge bunch of flush fit 5-rd mags and just keep swapping them out.
