best synthetic stock for a mauser?

I want to take a yugo mauser and stick it in a.....synthetic stock!!!

Are hogue stocks nice? Are they soft and stuff like their pistol grips?

I'm also thinking of painting the stock so, maybe something that I can paint is a good choice....

Thoughts?

The BEST would be one of the McMillan fiberglas stocks. The Hogues are solid with soft rubber inserts where your hands go, but they are just Zytel like the Ram Line stocks are. Not very high quality if you are looking for tack driving performance.

Some ppl have had luck bedding the "cheaper" synth stocks, but I;ve never tried it so can't comment.

BTW: The best stocks for painting are the fiberglas ones, not the plastic ones.
