Looking for some advice from fellow CGN'ers on an autoloading tacti-cool shotgun.

My Criteria:
1) reliability - it has to cycle a while range of loads (versa max has wide range of chokes, but can live with swapping a barrel)
2) aftermarket goodies
3) price
4) does it help me shoot like this guy:

I've been looking at the Versa Max tactical & Mosseberg 930 models while dreaming of Benelli M4, but am open to other brands and models.

ps. if you think this is a pipe dream and think i should get a tactical pump (ala 590) and an autoloader for skeet/hunting just say so.

It's rare to here someone make any argument against Benelli other than price.

If you can afford it, it's certainly the best choice for a tactical auto loader.

Versamax is a fine shotgun, and if price is a significant consideration it's got to be the prime contender. I think the one to compare it to is the Benelli M2, though, not the M4. The M4 is HEAVY, not nearly as well balanced as the M2 or Versamax, and really suited to a different application, IMO.

M4S90...accept no substitute.

haven't seen the beretta 1301, but i would think it would be priced around the versa max price point (MSP999USD). can't find it anywhere in CA, but did find this review that make me a bit leery of it though.

if they aren't cycling 36% faster than the competition (though not sure who they define that as), what else is no up to spec: http://www.beretta.com/en/1301-tactical/

beretta makes a 1301 tactical (not sure if anyone has them up here though)

i believe it is the 1201 fp model of beretta that you are referring to . yes they are in Canada but they are a discontinued model as they are a clone of the super 90 benelli shotguns. i see i am going to have to modify my comments as there is a 1301 beretta shotgun as your video clearly shows . learn some thing knew every day.

Benelli M4 is my vote, I believe it is worth the money, there are a bunch of great semis out there now though. Combine the M4's stock features like its ARGO dual pistons, excellent collapsible stock, and sights, and it's hard to best. I did the math and to build another gun competitive with the M4 on the features I appreciate, I'd easily spend the $2,000 the M4 runs.

Seriously. If the benelli is out of you budget then you buy a versamax.

Or, you buys a versamax regardless because they're awesome, shoot everything, and can be had for a cheap entry level price, or a ready to go tacticool configuration.......
