looking to replace a gunshow brand I bought with a milspec Magpul stock. The magpul stock seems loose on it, even when i clamp the friction latch,..although i am confident it is milspec. the buffer tube was one of those generic tubes with spring and carbine buffer in a bag deals. It appears to undersized to my magpul acs stock. I tried to install the magpul stock on a commercial tube, to make sure I was not mistaken but no go...so I think I just got a cheesey "milspec" buffer tube. WHat brand would you reccommend to replace this buffer tube with....are some tubes generally thicker than other milspec tubes?
thanks for help or advice

Maurice - here's a graph that shows the difference between both types

My recommendation for a new buffer tube is the PWS Enhanced buffer tube, either MilSpec or the 416 model (I have 3 of those).

Questar has both in stock

No need to use the castle nut & end plate, integrated QD point and you don't need a wrench to put it on.

A bit more money though.

i am using a Spikes H2 buffer. Just wondering if maybe this particular "milspec" tube was a bit undersized. IT is not horrible, but noticeable and annoying with some movement. I think I had a DPMS unit with a magpul cts previously, and had not rattle or looseness at all.

I have both a Vltor RE-1 and LMT (both milspec) with no complaints. Rainier Arms milspec Buffer Tube might be another option when OSTS has them back in stock.

What stock are you running?

Anything is possible, but if you have a caliper I'd measure both your tube and stock's tube diameter and you'll know exactly what you're working with.

^^^That.

Measure both parts to be sure what you have and know how much clearance between them. I'd invite you to drop by today to check it out for you, but NB is very far away.
