best trail cam for the money

Hey all I'm looking for a trail cam for bear hunting. Everyone I've looked at and thought would be a good deal gets crappy reviews online. I want to stay $150 or under incase a bear eats It or someone walks off with it but I want to be able to tell what's in the photos. IR flash is a must. Anyone got a make make model they're happy with and care to share?
 
I like the Spy Point cams! They take AA lithium batteries & they last a long time! They also have a new model (BF-7) that has the invisible IR...

I currently run two of their IR-6 cams, but I will be getting a couple more of the invisible IR models called the BF-7...

Pictures are from my Wildgame Innovations trail camera. 6mb max resolution, IR flash, range is 70 feet, has passive infrared sensor for motion and heat, and takes video too. Bought 3 of them at TSC stores for $49.99 about 5 weeks ago. Send me a PM if you want the SKU number. Well worth the $50 per camera.







 
Primus 35 used to be the best value hands down but now, that generation of T- cams (all makers) are obsolete. The new generation are smaller and supposedly, more advanced for same money. Not many reviews on them yet. The new Primus 35 ultra for example has really bad reviews. Goes to show you how the market is moving. Waiting for the dust to settle before picking up a few.
 
By far the best camera I got was a little bushnel one in walmart in the states, it says the batteries last 6 months and comes with both a screwin mount and a strap, takes good quality pics an a bunch of different settings. I prefer it just because of the battery life my other spypoint goes through 6 AA batteries in 3-5 days and my bushnel has lasted 4 1/2 months on 4 AA's and still going great. You save a lot of money on batteries alone.

If that is your main requirement, there are a bunch of cheap but functional cams in $80-$100 range available. The older Primus 35 is being sold next to the new ones (same price! Because nobody is buying the new one). Wildgame, multire and Wildview have some good low ends too. Bass pro and Cabela's review boards are very useful.
 
That passive ir flash is it a visible flash like a camera or actually not visible infrared flash. I've found on my older real cheap cameras the flash scared the bigger bucks. Don't know if it would effect a bear though
 
You will see a very faint red "glow". Bear and deer never turned their head. Moose and wolf always see it (I have my cams on video so i can tell).

you are mixing two terms here BTW. Passive IR or PIR is the motion technology used for detecting movement. IR or Infrared is the light source.

I have had deer look directly at my cams but maybe they just hear the IR cut filter moving during a photo. I don't know if mine removes the cut filter when it is dusk and then puts it back at dawn or if it just moves with each shot.
 
I have tried a lot of cameras,i like the bushnell hd with blackout led,i only use video ,way better then pics. normal ir cams can be seen,i got lots of video of deerin the dark just staring at the cam,some move off never to be seen again.i have not had that problem since I started using the black led models.they also have sound, cool some of the stuff you hear in the woods.they have time-lapse also but I have not used it.i just set it for a 15 sec vid and 2 min timeout,thats on a bait pile.they use aa batteries and last along time, months
 
Bushnell trophy cam HD. Cost me 200 bucks. Takes 4-8 AAs, 8 lasted me 8 months. Works at 28 below zero, great pics. The value is worth it on what you will save on batteries alone. Highly recommended.
 
Cost is always an issue given the remoteness of places I use them in. Thieves, bears and elements take a tole on these machines. Something to think about before you buy, depending on where you will be using them. i will never pay over $100 for any cam for my use.
 
I prefer the Moultrie Game Spy M-80, 8 AA batteries and they last forever. I do still use the Wildgame with 4 C batteries but you go through a set of batteries in 2 to 4 weeks.

Geez! Some of those deer look like they wouldn't be able to add flavor to soup, let alone put meat on the plate!

Ya thanks again. I just picked up 5 at Tsc. Walmart has the exact camera on sale for $149.95. I saved $500 + the tax and used my ofah card and saved 15%. Takes great pix. To bad the SD cards won't fit in my phone ill have to buy a viewer

Can u use the mcro sd cards in your phone?

Not sure which model are you talking about. Are you referring to Red 6 Model? Can you post a picture or a link to a page with its picture?
