I recently did some research on this subject. I believe right now Primos Truth Cam 35 is the best camera (for value) in that price range ($134 at Bass Pro. U just missed their sale at $119). I have been using one for 8 months and I just got my second one. Both do everything they say they do. these days, you rarely get that. My first one has been on 60 sec. video clips for the last 5 months. over 300 day/night clips and the first set of batteries are still at %70! I don't know what more to expect. I will see how they do in winter.
I'd vote for the moultrie as well. I've had mine for two seasons and so far very happy with picture quality and battery life. I have not used mine in extreme cold so I can't comment on performance under those conditions.
I think what guys are referring to is Moultrie D-55 IR. It is the all time best seller in that category and apparently a decent camera. I bought its higher end cousin I-35 at twice the price of Primos 35 and D-55 and was very disappointed! Done with Moultrie. Went back to Primos 35.
No matter what you do, try to get cameras with mechanical up and down nubs/levers... as oppose to Scroll menu on the screen. It matters when you are trying to change settings while covered with deer flies or in -50 c.
The Steath Cam Scounting Camera gets good reviews and Cabelas.ca has them on sale right now for 149.99. I have 2 of them coming so we will see if they are as good as the reviews say.
