Best value 1911 45 ?

for IPSC why not get a 9mm?
Because then you are only shooting Minor PF. And the best reason to shoot a 45 is that it makes a lot bigger holes! Holes that you can see from a distance easier than 9mm. 45 ACP is a classic and I LOVE IT! :D

I've got a Valtro that I bought early last year but then prices for them have gone way up!

Getting a 1911 with an ambi safety for IPSC is a good idea.

I've heard good things about the Norincos that people have upgraded with ambi safeties, adjustable sites, etc, etc. but in the end it is still a Norinco and wont have as much resale value. But pretty good value.

Seen a nice S&W 1911Sc (I think it was Sc anyway). Don't think it would be cheap though but did look nice and was a "new" model.

That will be 2 cents please!

I would say that a Para PXT single stack is the best bang for he buck. Also very Canadian!!I think tey come with only single sided safety.

Honestly, if you've got the Valtro, you've got a perfectly good gun for IPSC with a just a couple of mods. That's what I use. It's got third-party bevelled and extended magwell and an ambi safety. Get good quality ones from Brownells (don't just go cheap) and put the original ones aside. Then get good 10-round single-stack mags and you're good to go in .45 for IPSC.

I like what I have read ,so far on the Valtro myself but the wait time is forever!! They are very expensive though at$1800US!!

Keep in mind as in the other thread that we were both in , the Cdn version was alot cheaper in price and directly from Italy . The ones that go through Jardine custom in the states are made to his tolerances and he does the hand fitting , thats the reason for the U.S price and 3 year wait . The Cdn ones were nice and a decent deal , but not the same .

But I thought you said that we couldnt get them direct anymore. I may have misunderstood though. What is the price on the direct ship ones?

Correct , remember i said the Cdn ones were direct from Italy and that is why they were priced accordingly . They were bypassing John Jardines shop and they were not suppose too. That hole has now been plugged . The guns that go through Johns shop are manufactured to his tolerances and he does the final hand fitting . That is why they are 1800.00 U.S and since he is a 1 man shop ( slow ) and does the hand fitting , there is a 3 year backlog . The Cdn versions were nice but they didnt get any of the Jardine hand fitting and tolerances . Hope this helps .
