I recently bought a very nice-shooting 10/22T from Oddbawl....

but I think it could possibly be a great shooting gun with a better trigger. The stock trigger is really heavy.

What is the best value for drop-in trigger kits out there?

Kidd, Volquartson, etc, what do you think? What kind of price range?

I bought a parts kit from Cabelas that lowered the trigger pull and just works awesome. I like a nice light trigger pull and that's what I got.

The kit was around $50.00 and consisted of a new sear and hammer as well as a hammer spring, disconnector spring, replacement trigger return spring, stainless steel trigger pivot pin, two hammer shims and two trigger shims. Much cheaper that buying a whole new trigger assembly.

I'm no gunsmith and I managed to put together in about an hour. There's lots of schematics on the net that show you how to dissasemble/assemble the 10/22 trigger.

i too used a hammer and sear kit in my old 10/22 and it dropped pull to 2lbs 14oz, but it didn't fix the creep or overtravel.
a target trigger would probably be needed for that, and pc or volq sells just the trigger itself for pretty cheap no?
i'm not sure if when combined they would be equal to a complete target trigger or not.

Polish it yourself, if you mess it up your thinking new trigger anyway!!!
It's not that hard, go slow, check often.

All the info you'll need on rimfirecentral!!!

Just a drop in VQ hammer put mine at 2lbs.A target trigger would fix thet travel issue but i'm not concerned with it...

best bang for the buck:
VQ hammer
#8 shot under trigger plunger to remove overtravel
JB weld on sear and disconnector to remove pretravel

Best trigger bar none:
Tony Kidd

Visit the Hawktech site too, they've got a good selection of aftermarket parts for 10/22's, and unless things have changed shipping to Canada is free.

I added the PC target hammer and adjustable sear kit to my 10/22T. The trigger pull is now lighter than stock, and there's no detectable creep. Retain the Ruger hammer strut spring though, it seems to suit the 10/22 best. Try the VQ extractor too, it's an improvement over the stock claw.

Check out the 10/22 forums at rimfirecentral.com, there's tons of info on mods for the 10/22 to help you get ideas on how to build up your rifle.

And finally welcome to the 10/22 family!!!

Best trigger I ever had was stock Ruger reworked by Conneticut Precision Chambering. Mail him the trigger group and money order, two weeks later trigger comes back, 2 lb. pull, breaks clean as glass. Wish I could sent the whole rifle and get the whole package but don't want the hassle with permits.

I have one on my 10/22 Magnum and it's great. Herm at Hornet Products is a great guy to deal with. They ship really fast. I wouldn't be surprised if you get that trigger assembly in less than 2 weeks.

I have the silver assembly with a silver trigger. Very happy with it. At about
2-2.5lbs trigger pull its perfect for hunting. I have to say though that if your thinking of turning your 10/22 into a target gun, nothing beats a KID trigger assembly.

already received notification its on its way:D

bull's-eye; can you tell me what the trigger creep is like with this trigger group?

i admit i could spend more money with a kidd trigger group,it is a target/plinker gun,but i was going to start with a parts kit [hammer, sear ],and frankly,if this gives me a crisp trigger with less than 3 lbs pull i'll be happy.the origional ruger trigger is rough on mine, too rough.

If your looking for a trigger under 3lbs then you are set with the hornet trigger. It is crisp with little to no creep. I breaks surprisingly clean. You will like it. I don't think I would go with anything else if I was looking for a trigger under 2 LBS.

You will be happy.
