Best value in a fixed power riflescope

Ok, I understand that the Bushnell Elite series riflescopes are widely considered to give the best bang for the buck. But I'd still like to know; are there any "better" fixed 4 or 6 power scopes out there for the same price as the elite 3200 3X9X40? I've done a considerable amount of hunting with a fixed 4, and would consider a fixed 6X to be perfect for where I hunt (mostly fields, somewhat long distances). I'd only choose a fixed if I got better quality or lower price vs a similar variable.

Who out there has a good comparison between an Elite or similar variable and similarily priced fixed power scopes?
 
Weaver K6 is a pretty good scope for the money. I've had one on my Savage for a couple years, not a problem, pretty clear glass. With the 6X I've had no probs out to 200M.

If you want a fixed 6, you really owe it to yourself to check out the Leupold 6 x 42mm FX111. Granted, it's a few more bucks than you are talking about but its worth it the first time you see someones jaw drop when they look through it.
The FX11 s are less money, and just might be the biggest bargain in scopes there is. All else being equal a fixed scope will always blow away a variable. There's less lens to rob light, and a lot less inside to go wrong.
This is coming from a guy with many more variables than fixed.:confused: Knowing that this makes me seem like a hypocrite, I can only say that my variables aren't cheap. A 3200 is. Gad I hate those things.

I've got a Weaver K4 and its clear and bright. I bought it new about 14 years ago. Paid about $70, (now sells for $167 @SIR) and I've never had any problems with it. My dad has had one for about 30 years, first on an Enfield, then on a Savage 99 in 308, it has also been very good. In fact, in 1986 he rolled himself and a quad overtop of it, (slung over his back) and it was still fine. He's finally talking about retiring it this year...I'd say thats pretty "good bang for yer buck"!
 
A few votes for Weaver, which were the ones I was looking at, and a few votes for Leupold, which I didn't really know about. Guess it'll depend on how much money I have in my pocket when I go to get the scope. Thanks for the input!
 
adriel since your in Edmonton why don't you come into the shop and look at the fixed power Leupolds. We have the FX II 4x33 (gloss) at $399 and an FX III 6x42 (matte) at $569 in stock right now and we are doing our yearly Leuold order soon and will have almost the entire line in stock in the near future. Phil.
 
I have 4 Leupold fixed M-8's (which I guess they call the FX II now ,with maybe better lense coatings)

Anyway, I prefer them over my Leupold variables(2 Vari-XIII's,a VX-II and a Vari-X II)
They seem much brighter (to me) and are absolutely a pleasure to look through.

As was said earlier,you owe it to yourself.........Get a fixed power Leupold.

You may even be able to pick up an older M-8 model that is still NIB.
I'm sure there are still afew sitting on some store shelves somewhere in Canada,and the price should be somewhat less than the new improved fixed powers(FX-II and FX-III).

Oh, did anyone mention that these things have a warranty forever?No matter how many times it has changed hands?No proof of purchase?No product regristration card need be sent etc?

I should get some kickbacks from Leupold for that pitch eh ?

I have a 6x42 Nikon Monarch which is pretty impressive, I much prefer the nikoplex reticle to the standard Leupold duplex, the glass is every but as good as the vx111/fx111 leupold for considerably less money. To the best of my knowledge SIR is the only Nikon scope dealer in Canada.
