Well I purchased a 20GA H&R Pardner Pump, It has a vent rib and I like to put a set of sights on it.

My options are the

Williams Universal Slugger Firesight

Or TRUGLO Tru-Point Xtreme Turkey and Deer Fiber Optic, Universal

16TGLUTRPNTXTRMDRGUA-1

The price are about the same, the Truglo are steel, while the Williams are alum.

Has anyone have either of these sights?

Ive had both. For what its worth i use a 4x32 scope now. I found with both that the fiber optic bead is to big. A good sized white tail at 50 yards left only neck and head and rear legs visible on a broadside shot. Not near as precise as i wanted. For fast snap shooting the williams are better. Low powered optic was the solution for me when using my slug gun.
Simple bead has worked fine on my sxs guns

My 870 20” turkey barrel came with rifle sights and f/o sights, I love them. If I was going to add sights to my vent rib barrel I’d go with either of those, both would work well I’m sure.

So if you had both. Which one you found was better?

I bought the Williams and put it on my 12g pump shotgun for use as a slug rifle. The sight was not adjustable enough for my shotgun (needed the rear sight to go lower). I also damaged the aluminum rear sight by my frequent tightening-loosening with the included allen key. Ended up taking it off and had a rail installed for a red dot/ scope.

So in short, sample size of 1, the Williams did not work for me with my gun and multiple brands of shotgun slugs (as an aside, I think I spent more money on slugs trying to sight that shotgun in than if I just bought a used shotgun with iron sights or a rail).

Like trap shooting, sporting clays or skeet? If so no need for any sights.

If you're shooting slugs out to 75 yards at most sure. Try the sights

Be careful soldering on to the rib you may loosen the rib that way. Better to drill and tap. A simple ramped post would be easy to make. Start tall and file to suit

Yeah I don't got the tools to solder. Why I was thinking clamp on. I may tap it.

Don't understand, we don't get to do shenanigans on a range.

Shooting paper, pumpkins etc... Just generally messing around.
