So to complete my all black build, I need to chrome bolt face that you see thought the ejection port to be black.
I believe the fact that it doesn't rub the receiver should make this easy... Has anyone done this? How did you do it and how did it turn out?
Thanks for any help.

I blued mine. Take it out, remove extractor. Degrease thoroughly, grab a bottle of BC Cold blue and dunk it in or apply it. rinse with cold water, dry repeat a couple times. Dry, light coat of oil and put back into the rifle.

worked and looked good on mine.

It's not chrome just polished stainless. You could also parkerize it if you wanted. Use some brake clean to ensure you get rid of ALL the grease first or it will get "spotty"

Cool thanks :) could I request a picture or two JT?

As per your request .. I tried for two but the lighting or flash kept washing it out.

Parkerizing or Phosphating is a metal finish that is durable and abrasion resistant and holds up in all weather extremes.

The Parkerizing technique is a phosphate etching process that produces a hard matte finish that is anti-reflective and has excellent oil holding properties. The most common type is Black Manganese... which was used in the bolt above.

Degreasing.... As in, rubbing alcohol? Braake kleen? Soap
And water? Lol I'm assuming any will work? And as far as gun blue goes. I'm pretty sure all I can get locally is "outters" brand, but they're all the same right?

Parkerizing is super easy... it takes about 10 seconds and your index finger... pick up the phone and dial (712) 746-3473... approximately $100 later RT sends you the parkerized bolt... kind of... :D

Barrett (murdoc on cgn) at Armacoat can do it as well, he offers parkerizing in two different colors ... check the dealer pages if you want to go that route.
