Since the bolt is so easily dissemble here is a good trick to dry fire you Tikka T3 without arm to the firing pin
first dissemble your bolt assembly and take your firing pin out and you will notice that in your bolt there is a step that correspond to the step on your firing pin
just get some rubber O ring of the proper size (snug on the big part of the firing ping just ahead of the spring)
reassemble your bolt assembly and your are safe to dry fire all you want
just check after a while to see if the ) ring is OK
the O ring absorb the shock of the pin......
call this Canuck tip of the week:D

Heh. I use snap-caps becuase I started out as a kid with .22s, and it sort of got burned into me not to dry fire. I've seen pretty good arguments that this is unnecessary for centre-fire, but the snap cap also makes for a better simulation when practicing or training (when else do you dry-fire?).

I certainly wouldn't consider actually modifying the rifle to permit "safe" dry firing. For one thing, I'd think most situations where you'd want to dry-fire would be ones where you want the rifle in the same state it will be when firing a live round.

With my memory, a procedure that involves removing the firing pin is most likely to result in a day at the range with a weapon that dry-fires great but can't shoot live ammo. :)

Obligatory "Point of Impact" reference: Of course, removing the firing pin is valuable if you're ever the victim of a conspiracy to frame you for assassinating a public figure and need to prove that it wasn't your rifle. But that only happens like once a year.
