Best way to sell part of collection?

I decided I really need to get all my rifles into one safe. I used to have a real passion for Mosins but I just don't have the time and having these rifles stored away in gun socks isn't right.

However, due to career and kids I've been completely out of the market for 8-10 years and things have changed a lot and I'm not sure what current value is or if the EE is the best overall place to sell if you don't know value.

I've also got a 1943 early serial number M44 and a late war russian capture K98 that I'd like to re-home.

Has the active collector market for these rifles increased? Is it worth selling them? Ideally I'd like to sell them and turn the money into a nice Varmint rifle in 7.62x39 or a made in Canada 10/22. I've still got an SVT-40, Postulaitous marked M39, and a converted dragoon 91/30 to scratch my 7.62x54r itch.

Opinions appreciated.
 
take a few minutes each day to scan the ee for firearms similar to what you are trying to rehome. in a few weeks, you will have your answers. there are other firearm buy/sell groups you can check out as well but the ee seems to be the best place thus far as it has trader ratings that you can refer to in checking out the buyer's honesty. good luck
 
I still say we need a "What's my gun worth' sub-forum...

Those particular mosins did not grow in price as outrageously as others. Mainly kept up with inflation I'd say. At least with the m91 and m91/30 you can look at the recent canadian auctions and price accordingly. The m24 is a rare enough beast and given the damage it's hard to estimate... There was one at Landsborough in 2016 for 325 + fees + taxes but it's very sparsely described with few pictures. Look it up and judge for yourself.

I'll give you $30 for the lot! Or, listen to the other guys and do a bit of research. You'll probably be surprised how much things have changed. But seriously, if you want to sell them, figure out your price and PM me, I'm interested.
 
Thanks guys. I've been keeping an eye on the EE for a week or so now. I'll be posting them up as soon as I can get some boxes so I can get accurate shipping numbers.

If you are not up on shipping , the rules with Ca. post has changed.
You should have a small business account, you can do it with out, but it is on you and the buyer, no insurance.
They want trigger lock, and locked case. I use double walled boxes with everything 100% filled with packing.
Just a heads up, takes me a hour to pack and make a shipping label, etc.
Just keep that in mind when pricing BTW the silly 30.00 will not cover shipping cost on one , those long ones will be over length.

I agree 100% on a what's this worth sub forum, not just for firearms but parts and accessories as well.

The market has changed drastically even in the last 3 years. The last 12 months have been somewhat of an anomaly for almost every sector of firearms. Prices are up, demand is up but I don't think a lot of the new buyers are very educated. Take a look at the sell prices for the last few Switzers and Landsborough auctions to get a picture. The EE prices don't really reflect the same auction trends however.

Your 1891 is slightly interesting being an early Tikka. That said, it doesn't translate into huge value increase. I'd probably price that at $650 and the same for the M24 (given the damage). Your 91/30 is a decent Winter/Continuation War capture and rebuild. $550 would be reasonable. If your M44 has no serial number prefix and the SN is under 100 then it might be interesting to someone, otherwise "low serial number" is pretty irrelevant for refurb'd rifles. Apparently, M44s are going for $700 now though I don't know who's buying at that price. RC K98ks are running around 1k right now. The prices quoted are based on a decent bore and matching bolt. I'd be tempted to send that M91 to Switzers since idiots are paying close to a thousand for them as of late before fees.

It's already there, it's called the EQUIPMENT EXCHANGE.
 
Auctions are getting very high prices lately ... that could be another option to sell, but I don’t think it’s a good option if you have to end up mailing them to the auctioneer. You’d have to pay a sellers premium, but I don’t see many things go cheap these days.

With no way to comment on the posts and the only indication that one priced too low being a slew of "I'll take it"s? Not really. Which means if one doesn't know, one is pretty much forced to go high and then lower to find the price point.

Unfortunately most people buying aren't serious collectors and the prices have gone up rather erratically and irrationally. I would say your M91 would be 400-600$, if it was a Imperial barrel likely worth a couple hundred more but the Finnish barreled ones aren't as desired. Finn 91/30 400-600$. Even though M91/30s have gone up for whatever reason the non-refurbished and captured used ones have never really commanded that much of a premium on them, likely due to the lack of serious collectors. Finn M24 300-600$. With the damage that hurts the value, I know personally I wouldn't even look at buying it, but otherwise the M24s aren't nearly as desired as the later Finnish firearms such as the M28 or M28/30. Also makes a bit of sense as well as it isn't that far off from a M91 Infantry rifle.

For the M44 maybe 1k? I honestly don't know and I haven't seen any M44s up for sale for a while. I don't even want to guess on RC K98k to me they are still 400-600$ guns even though the prices on them are definitely much higher than that.

I haven't really been buying or selling much with the recent extremes. Hope this helps.
