Wondering what everyone likes to hunt woodcock in thick cover with
I guess I had a failure to load here, or my opinion was too controversial and got deleted. Anyway, I said that I agree that the gauge isn't as a important on timberdoodles as the shot size and #8 or #9 are ideal, then added that the choke should be open and that a double barrel with 2 chokes would be ideal, both of them open. I will add that as far a gauges go, there's far more available for 12s than any other, then 20s and then you're buying what you can get from a limited selection.I mostly hunt with light a shorter barreled gun with open chokes and a light load of number 9’s
gauge is totally irrelevant to me but I’ve noticed it’s gotten smaller as I’ve gotten older
