Better .308Win brass: Rem UMC or Fed Premium?

For plinking... Win, Rem then Fed. I have never had good luck with Fed.
For serious long range shooting Lapua all the way.
 
I agree with Maynard, I find that Win brass is pretty good and there isn't a lot of variance from lot to lot, then Remington, Federal Brass is good except the primer pockets will loosen up quickly after a few reloads. Norma and Lapua brass are good but not necessary unless you have a precision rifle.
 
Federal is allegedly softer than most other manufacturer's brass. Remington is ok. Mind you, I've never used either extensively. When I was buying factory ammo to collect brass, there was no Federal and Remington ammo was too expensive. Winchester has served me well for eons out of my bolt actions and semi-autos.
