Hey all, I was looking at buying the Mossberg MVP. However the only thing that turned me off from the gun is how sloppy the bolt sits. I was just wondering if there are any 3rd party bolts out there that are more precise to make up the slop?

I agree. The barrel shoots really well but the bolt is cheap and sloppy. I lost the ejector spring and ball when it came loose and it was near impossible to order new parts. I had to fix it with the spring out of a Bic lighter rather than send the entire rifle back to Mossberg. Very poor for getting parts. Won't be buying another mossberg

Had one it did shoot decent but you are correct the bolt is a poor design. Sold it and have a Tikka Varmint now. Quality difference is night and day. I'd get something better quality unless its dirt cheap.

There are a few better made entry level hunting rifles then the Mossbergs...783, American, Savage, actually all the other entry level rifles are a step up lol.
I won't even get into the used market stuff where you can get a Husqvarna, Parker Hale, BSA, etc for $400-$500 that is in excellent condition, shoots straight, and built to last.

Hmm, thanks for the info... I was hoping that I could find something that shoots something that isn't 1$+ per round
Back to searching!

It's a cheap gun. Spend all that money on it and it will STILL be a cheap gun.

Instead of buying a better bolt, just buy a better gun.
