Ok, so I've looked and looked and looked (too much free time) at different options for an AR-15 rifle. Currently I'm looking a 3 options major Options:

1 ) Scratch build franken-AR
Cost (before S&H, and tax): $1758 + AR tools
2 ) Norinco M4gery (14.5" version) + parts
Cost (before S&H, and tax): $1251
3 ) Daniel Defence DDM4v5 (new version) + parts
Cost (before S&H, and tax): $1958

My thoughts on these rifles:

1 ) It will be MY rifle build how I want it. But I plan on using value parts, and I still have to have all the parts for it.

2 ) It's a cheap, usable rifle that I can add parts as I go. But it's cheap.

3 ) It's all good-to-great quality parts from the same manufacture, so to me that means that parts will fit together better(?). But It's the most expensive of these Options.

For paper punching (not comp) what do you guys think is the better option to go? (mind you, I have time before I can act upon these ideas, and I like to have good ( to great, if I can) stuff.

Sorry if I word thing poorly or if what's in my head doesn't what I've written up.

What parts are you adding?

The Norinco is $699. You are adding $550 in parts? Like what?

The DDm4 is $1650. You will still add $300?? in parts.? How does adding another $250 in parts to a Norinco make it even close to a DDm4?

You realize that Questar has had 15% off their website for a few days now. You missed out on some steals on RRA Rifles. Even a couple LMTs.
There is a LMT 16" CQB MRP for $1845 (with discount). Better deal than anything you have posted.

Buy the norc and shoot it until something fails, which will most likely be a very long time. If that happens replace parts as needed. Spend the money I just saved you on ammunition

The question is will this be your first ar?

Yes, this is my first Real AR-15. But I airsoft and paintball, I've used a paintball marker(gun) with a CAR stock, and I have a airsoft HK416. With what little experience I have with those I found some things I like and dislike about them.

1 ) My plan for the Norc (@ $700 for the rifle) is a Rainer arms 11 inch rail, a Magpul stock (haven't decide which one yet), Magpul ASAP sling plate, A.R.M.S. #71 BUIS, and a Vortex Strikefire optic.

2 ) For the DDM4 (I found them for $1575), I'd put BAS-ASS ambit-safety, the same sling plate, BUIS, and optic as I would on the Norc, and maybe some rail covers/AFG2.

I personally like the Norinco M4 rifles. We have two & they WORK!

That being said, before I would buy a Norinco M4 & 'add stuff' to it... I would look at picking up another make...

The Norinco is GREAT for what it is, but if you're going to mod it, look at putting that $$$ into a higher end gun in the first place!

OR... BETTER YET! Buy the Norinco M4, leave it alone & spend the rest on AMMO! THIS IS WHAT I WOULD DO!

Either way, post pics when you do decide & you have your new toy!

Cheers
Jay

If you get the Norc its not worth tweaking. Just enjoy it as is. You will likely find rails and parts don't fit it as well because it is built to slightly different specs.

With DD the only think you need to upgrade is the trigger. Pretty sure the new ones come with enough QD sling points that you won't need to add anything.
