Went to Galt Sportsmans tonite to shoot some clays, and there was a demo nite on Bettinsoli (sp?) shotguns.
Got to try the high rib trap, and was surprised at how well it performed.
Seemed like a really solid piece of gear. Nice wood, and adjustable comb.
Anyone know anything about these shotguns???
I have always been a Remington auto guy, but was impressed enough to try and get more info.
Anyone own one of these that can give an educated opinion?????
Thx

I used to have one- they are fairly popular in the UK as entry level guns. They are reasonably priced Brescia pattern guns, and mine certainly didn't give me any problems. I only sold it to fund a new Miroku.

If the price is right go for it.

I saw online that there is another demo at Bridgeport Rod & Gun tonight (1229 Beitz Rd, Breslau) for anyone in the area. I'm going to try and hit it and will post more if I get to try one. I like to use the same shotgun for trap/skeet/SC targets and game so anyone know if they have a gun that would work for that? The Bettinsoli web site lists a boat load of styles (in Italian so wasn't able to get the write up), which one did you use "thegunnut"?

I tried the high rib trap....
Once I realized that I had to "get down" on the stock, it broke birds well. Probably shoots better than I do.....
Obviously I would adjust the cheekpiece if I owned the gun.
What I did notice was that the trigger was certainly better than my 1100, and I believe they were mechanical, not inertial.
Was very tight as well.. reminds me of my pal's beretta when it was new.
Windknot..... how many rounds through yours before you sold it????

My brother and I had the opportunity to try the Bettinsoli for a round of sporting clays. He was looking for a good used O/O for around $2000.00 After firing half the round of sporting he decided it was his. This unit has beautiful wood adjustable comb, mechanical triggers ,extended chokes and high viz sights . All for under $2000.00 . I shoot a considerable more expensive known brand and I hate to say but I think the Bettinsoli , lb for lb is a better unit !

These guns have been in the states for a while and there have been reports of problems with the steel used in them specifically with the monoblock cracking...reports are anecdotal internet forum discussion and not my direct experience...for that money your not far off from a Browning or Beretta. No gun is perfect of course but I'd hate to have to repair something like that after spending that kind of money.

Reports of monoblock cracking (mods if the link below isn't allowed please remove if you see fit too)

I called the Mississauga LeBaron's and they only had one gun, The Gun Centre had 5 different ones and they were at or below LeBaron's price. Right now they also told me they are offering a case of ammo with the first guns sold so I'm liking that. They are closed today but I am going in Tuesday and I will check back with the results.

:agree: For a small $$ increase I would stay with either a Beretta or Browning. Both are proven designs, parts & service, if needed are available.

Hi Rod, we have been asked to undertake repairs for the Canadian importer and will likely do that for them for action things at least. To date I have managed to scrounge a gun and open it up and the inside is very well made. The parts look nicer than the internals of the Belgian Superposeds I have had in recently. Bettinsoli is rumoured to be doing a lot on CNC and that does help. So far the fit and internal finish matches the outside, both very very nice. I'll let you know how we go on getting parts but I am told they are on the way to Canada.

Glad to hear the internals appear to be well made. A shooting buddy just bought a sporting model that was on sale at Gagnon Sports. I will pass your name & telephone number on to him.
