Had a good few weekends up at our new lake lot in northwestern Alberta. My wife managed to take her first bear and first big game animal. And this weekend I finally found a good bear after turning down some really nice average type bears. She used my model 7 7mm08 shooting 139 gr sst's and my bear fell to a Christensen arms extreme in 270wsm shooting a hand load 130grttsx

Nice! Good looking, happy family... reminds me of when my kids were little... you will never regret time spent together in the woods... and they will be lasting memories for the kids...

Great to see the entire family out there...too many people seem to forget the simpler pleasures of hunting these days. Congrats!

Nice bears! What did those 2 big bears meaure? Nose-to-tail, or squared?

The one I shot this weekend is pretty close to 7' skinned but on the body he is around 6.5 and the other was a stumpy bear. Hardly made it over 6'. Both bears have teeth worn down to the gums and the roots showing with lots of teeth missing or broke . I'm just south of you between whitecourt and edson. Found some monster moose sheds too back in a old willow Swamp on the edge of a grown up cut block.

Wow, nice bears!

I've seen a handful of black bears this spring, but nothing nearly as big as that. I was within 20 feet of a sow with a cub last week (we were in a car), sow was, maybe, 90 lbs. She started off farther away, but the two of them were grazing slowly in our direction for several minutes, despite knowing we were there. Wife and I politely gave her some space and left...
