Hey i just moved from saskatoon to Airdrie and i'm looking for a range close by. I'm going to check out sibbald flats later today but that is a bit of a drive to make my home range. Also if there are any other coyote hunters that wouldn't mind taking a new resident out that would be great. From what i hear it's pretty hard to get permission from the locals around here to hunt on their land. Thanks guys.

There is a shortage of ranges around here. Sibbald has several ranges, the public range probably being the one you will see today. The entire complex is known as the Homestead Range and is run by the Alberta Provincial Rifle Association. Look them up online to get details.

Other than that Red Deer and Drumheller have ranges run by their respective Fish and Game clubs. Still looking at an hour drive from Airdrie though. Hopefully the Olds range will be re-opened, but they may cap membership.

thanks for the reply, that's pretty much what i found out yesterday talking to some guys at the sibbald range. Trochu has a range i guess, I'll be coyote hunting in that area today so i'll have to check it out aswell. I heard most of the clubs that shoot out at homestead aren't accepting any new members either, but i did get a line on a new range that might be opening up this year not too far north from me.

This is not true. Homestead is a volunteer-based competition centered facility, so none of the clubs are in a rush to take members that won't participate and help out, but most clubs are taking members.

If you want to shoot long range prone off specialized bipods, the fullbore club will be what you are after. If you want to shoot positionally against dynamic targets out to 500m, the service rifle club is more what you want.

Both are accepting members.
