I see Hornady is finally catching up in production of a few bigbore caliber bullets.
DGX series soft point:
Copper washed steel jacketed soft points should be tougher than all get out. Reasonable prices as compared to the boutique brands available previously.
450/400N.E. 400gr. .410" dia.
500 N.E. 570gr. .510" dia.
Can't wait to test them out for accuracy!

Gotta love big guns. How fast do you get the 570 grain bullets going? A picture of the rig your gonna launch those out of would be nice too!

The 570gr will be used in my 50AK. Haven't had the chance load any as they came in yesterday. Goal will be just under 2000fps[provided there is enough case capacity] out of a custom Ruger #3

The 400gr bullets will get used in my Ruger #1 405win as well as my Ruger#1 450/400NE.
All I can see its going to be fun not burning up $20 every time I shoot a group.

You mean to say there are only a couple of bigbore shooters here on CGN!

SC wait around till mid winter I will most likely get bored of the 50AK make me an offer I can't refuse.

The .510" Hornady bullets are a whole other story............

I would be interested in those as well, that is providing Santa puts a certain Siamese Mauser in 50 Alaskan under the tree for me ! :D

Nice! I've contemplated the 50 alaskan and the .405. Awesome cartridges for sure.

Most of my big bores are .45/70 in one form or another, but I also shoot .45/110 and .50/140.

Chris.

Ahh crap, one more reason to stop ignoring a .500 NE! I expect that the Hornady cores will prove a bit hard when combined with a steel jacket for use on North American game, but time will tell. Of course it is a .510" bullet, so who cares if it doesn't expand, and there is always the TSX solution for those who still think expansion is important.

Hornady has saved the day. I am looking for 404 as well and may try 458's once my TSX supply runs out. I have heard mixed reviews about these bullets so they may expand well. I heard the 458 open easy and the 375 don't. But for the all important practicing it doesn't matter. If I ever do build a 500A2 or 510 Wells then I will use these bullets. Oh and that lever on the #3 looks hot.
