I set out this morning to do a short hunt before I had to be at work, got settled in early to let the bush settle down. About 10 minutes into legal shooting time I heard a deer walking through the crunchy leaves, then I seen him, and he is a nice one. He was on a mission, came in so quick I didn't have much time to think about anything, as he made his way I drew my bow and as soon as he was in a good shooting lane I let out a "baaaah" and he stopped, about the same time I sent the arrow flying and hit him. He bolted up the hill, but I could hear him crashing through the bush, hopped down about 15 minutes later and my arrow was in the ground soaked with good blood all around it, I took the long way out to my truck as to not bump him but as I got 30 yrds away from my truck there he was, couldn't believe it, he made it easy for picking up, drover my truck right to him. Double lunged him from about 20 yards, still in shock. Going to have a hard time topping this mature 11 pointer! Kept my little guy home from school for a little while to help dad out, he loved it

Great looking deer! Got to love it when the deer co-operate.

I'm heading out tomorrow early with the rifle. The camp pot for the heaviest deer is at $50 and the winning weight is currently 121 lbs (dressed). That weight should be easy to beat and I can win the cash (and the bragging rights :) )!!

Congrats! SW Ontario is producing some very nice bucks for the last two season. The last few editions of Ontario Monster Whitetails magazine is plastered with bucks from the SW including the new provincial record.

That deer was taken a couple blocks away from my stand, would have loved to get him with the bow! I'm sure he had ventured through my area once or twice in his life

Great buck! Thanks for sharing the pictures & story with us. I'm sure your little guy will remember this for a long time. He's lucky to have a Dad that hunts.
