I'd sort of given up looking for reasonable priced .22 LR for quite a while, but when I got an email notice that SFRC aka The Ammo Source is offering free shipping on orders of over $200, I went looking and was surprised to see they have 3250 round cases of Federal Automatch in stock for $244.96. Seems like a good deal, for these days I mean, but I don't think I'm familiar with the Automatch stuff, not for a long while anyway. Can I assume there's no problem with it that is keeping it in stock there?

Just don't expect match quality results with it. Decent plinking ammo, not worth a premium over any of the other standard bulk stuff.

I've bought a couple of the small 325 round boxes that seem to be our current idea of a "brick".

I only tested it for accuracy preference on one rifle but with that rifle it turned out to be one of the better ammo for group size. It wasn't the very best but it wasn't far off the best for that rifle. So it at least is partially OK that it has "Match" as part of the name. Don't expect it to be a good benchrest match ammo though.

Other than that I've found it functions fine in my S&W and Ruger semi auto pistols with no jams. And I don't recall it suffering from the somewhat frequent dead priming we seem to see a lot more often in some other brands than was previously the case.

PS: If you do the conversion from the cost of the 325 box to give you a comparable cost for 500 then it turns out that you can buy their CCI Blazer for about $4 less. And I'd consider that a worthwhile savings for what is comparable ammo. Now the CASE price makes the Automatch look like a better deal but again the savings just brings it down to matching the cost for Blazer.

7.5 cents per round is at the top end for bulk. 6.5 per round is easy to find for me. The days of 5 cents per round seem to be gone now that Walmart has jacked their prices.

I shoot it out of my 1022 with good results, about as accurate as mini mags. Reliable feeding and almost no duds. usually goes for over $30 a box. I may look into a case at this price. Free shipping makes it worth it.
