I recently lucked into an 1895 sporting rifle in the famous caliber and have been struggling to find loading supplies (brass, bullet, mold and dies). If anyone has some leads, I'd appreciate it. Load data and general experience with the cartridge is also appreciated!

So I've continued my research and sadly found that Hornady is no longer manufacturing brass for this caliber... unless I am able to locate some leftover stock it looks like selling my house and buying Jamison is the only route forwards. Dies are available at a couple stores up here, molds seem to be around too.

Hit some gun shows. Some usually turns up. - dan

Chambers will vary but some people have recommended 9.3x74R brass as a viable parent case. Or 30-40 but that would come in about a quarter inch short.

I've used both for 40-60 and 40-70. Haven't yet worked on a 405 Winchester.
