Hey everyone,

I am newer to the site but have learned a lot from it's members in a very short amount of time! I am looking for some advice on hunting bibs, as I am looking to begin duck hunting but want to make sure I am buying some decent stuff. I am a pretty big guy (6 foot 6, 285 lbs) and tried on the Hunt Shield ones from Canadian Tire but the 2XL size was just a little bit too snug for me. I'm not looking to spend $400-$500 on Sitka gear, but I am looking to get something that will last me quite a while and is insulated for Goose and Duck hunting. I do not need them to be wadders, as my cousin who I'll be hunting with has a boat to retrieve the ducks he shot. Does anyone have any advice on a good brand or a specific store I can get a decent pair in a 3XL? I think my budget would be a maximum of about $250. Thank you all in advance, I am learning a lot from all of you! Also if you have any other suggestions of things I should invest in for duck and goose hunting, please feel free to share! One thing I won't need is a duck or goose call at this time, layout blind, boat, gun, ammo, etc. More so clothing like gloves, boots, bibs, coats, hats, are what I am interested in getting some advice/suggestions about.

Cabelas carries lots of clothing in larger sizes... I am 6'4" and 260 and have no problem finding clothing there.

Bass pro shops america site has much larger sized and selection, the last time I ordered it actually came Cabellas Canada but you wont find it on their site

I too am 6'6 300 lbs + get the biggest size you can for adding insulated clothes underneath

That’s good to know, I wasn’t sure if the price would be way to high based on exchange rate and duty. But if they came from cabelas Canada then I’m guessing there would be no duty. Just curious but what size do you wear? Thanks for the tip!

I bought some camo insulated bibs from Cabela's a few years ago - kind of a soft knap on exterior - not a hard weave like canvas - only issue that I found was that the bottom of the legs were very large - so watch for that if you have a chance to try them on - large diameter made for easy to get boots on and off, but I ended up wrapping with duct tape, like "gators", so that I could walk with them on, without them flapping into each other, and so that branches did not go up inside, Label says "True Timber Camo - 3XL". I am 6'1" and pushing 300, so I would think sizing would be fine for you - is a quilted /lined thing - I wore it for 7 or 8 days hunting in November of 2020 in West Alberta, near Grande Cache. I had UnderArmour 2.0 long sleeve top and bottoms underneath - never had an issue with cold, at all. I had bought a pair of matching pants because they were specifically listed as "water proof" - I am real certain the parka/jacket and the bibs said "water resistant"...

I have the Cabelas Dry Fowl parka and bibs. This is my third season with them and they are very comfortable warm bibs that keep you dry. They also wear well. The 2019/2020 seasons I hunted almost every single day from opener to finish and they are not worn, the stitching is as good as new and no holes or tears. They are very good quality. I am not as tall as you at 5'10" but I am 240lbs and the 2XL is very roomy with plenty of room to put on every day clothes and layers underneath. I like the full length leg zippers for keeping my boots on to get dressed and undressed in the field when setting up or leaving. They are reg price $199 and if you watch for the sales each fall you can likely do like I did and get both the parka and bibs for the same price as one piece at reg price or at least a good reduced price.
