Biggest antlers in the world

Of course people harvested those giant deer (and they were deer, more like giant fallow deer than Elk or Moose), of course not with guns, but with bows and spears, and slings and traps. 7000 years is not very long in the greater scheme of things and obviously most hunting went on long before there were rifles. However, I could care less if someone did or did not "shoot" that giant deer. Fossil antlers were popular decorations in Irish castles from at least the time of the Norman conquests in Ireland. And if its good enough for a Norman baron, then its good enough for me. And we still do this sort of thing: Here's a picture of my old place in Alberta with a good size dinosaur femur bone (about a five-footer) below the window and one of the local boys coming over for a look.

Have you ever seen these antler "jacks" that artificially increase the spread of antlers.
I saw one for sale at a gun show. I couldn't believe it. How pathetic can you get?

Ha ha I was offered that service by a taxidermist on a particularly nice WT (208 before deductions,202 after) but declined...but I sure would have if that or any buck I acquired would better the Hanson buck by a 1/2 point or so...You would be well advised to do so as well and take every precaution to prevent that inside spread from shrinking past the minimum required in the 60 day drying period to better the Hanson buck. Any new world record could easily be turned into a 1/4 million in endorsements and appearance fees

I get it, but that would be a very exceptional circumstance...and I suppose the "rack-jack" might have some additional legitimate value to counteract shrinkage....but I think that in general, and for most hunters and for most bucks, it is better not used.

"For best results on maintaining your original spread or enhancing it, the Rack Jack must be used within 8 hours of shooting the deer".

I would never try to "enhance" a score but I'm sure there are some that would. I could never understand the 60 day drying period requirement that B C has...wouldn't it be more prudent to measure the animal to it's "as it hit the ground" state. I have two WT's that score over 200, one shrank less than 1/4" in the drying period but the other narrowed up almost a full inch.

Don't they make silicone thingies to increase the size of a rack?
