Bighorn Origin

SMK's are a finicky bullet. I would also recommend trying a different bullet - I have great success with 140 Berger Hybrids, but others have great success with ELDM's also.

Berger Hybrids we’re next on the list if i cannot make SMKs shoot.
The one thing i love about Sierras is the variable BC rating they give out on their site.
I tune my ballistic app with these numbers in the multi BC setting.

With this i have had success to a point where i can shoot a new load at 100M, zero, chrony, and then move back to 900M using perfect elevation no tuning/truing required, using app and Bluetooth kestrel.

I purchased M10 rings from Tom give them a try.
I’ll update back in another few range visits another 100-something rounds for build progress and feedback.

Bringing this one back from the dead.

I'm looking at an Origin for a switch cal rifle - 300 short mag and 260 rem in Manners LRH with some choice glass. (buy stock/glass once - cry once, not twice).

Marty and anyone else, curious to hear your thoughts after all this time has passed. Many people running multiple bolt heads? Any negatives/cons to my plan?

Cheers,

Funny enough to bring this back, I have just massively downsized my shooting gear collection to get back into an RV and travel with the family.

My only LR rifle I have kept is based on a bighorn origin.
Still my favourite budget action to date.
Simply plug and play, with a good stock and a good barrel 1/3moa is not that hard to obtain, while feeding/extracting like a champ using untuned AICS mags.

I’ll be honest, never played with bolt heads.
At one time I had 3x origin actions and we’re each dedicated to a caliber or function.

For the "budget" actions, the Origin's are hard to beat.

For me personally however, I didn't like the swept bolt handle so just stuck with the TL3's for the extra few bucks.

Have all the bolt heads as extras, but never used em. Just bought more actions. Have lots of shouldered barrels spun up but don't swap much at all.
